Sunflower "Topolino" (dwarf)
Dwarf sunflower "Topolino" - Helianthus annuus.
Compact, decorative garden annual. From June to September, an inimitable living “cheerful” hedge of these plants will be an enviable decoration of any site.
The plant forms a compact branching bush (up to 40 cm in height), the stems of which are completed by large, up to 15-20 cm in diameter, bright yellow inflorescences-baskets with a darker center.
Used for landscape design when decorating a site in a “rural style”. Placed in groups, in flowerpots in front of the house, in large garden beds and flowerbeds as foreground plants. Can also be used on balconies.
Sowing: from the second ten days of April to mid-May, seeds directly into the ground, in nests of 2-3 seeds, to a depth of 2-2.5 cm, at a distance of 35-50 cm. 1.0 g = 30-40 seeds.
Seeds begin to germinate at a temperature of +5 °C, but seedlings also tolerate frosts down to -6 °C. Shoots appear 6-12 days after sowing.
You can also grow sunflowers through seedlings. In this case, the seedlings must be planted 2 weeks after emergence.
Prefers light and nutritious soil, sunny places.
Care: loosening the soil, weeding, thinning the crops. It responds well to the application of organic or complete mineral fertilizer before sowing. Additionally, two additional feedings are carried out during the season.
Flowering: July - September.
